An e-mail message from the youth development director at the local YMCA chapter alerted us to an upcoming event that likely could be of interest to area high school seniors and other college-bound persons.
The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas puts on College Goal Sunday from 2-4 p.m., Feb. 21, at the El Centro College-West Campus.
The sessions focus on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid program offered by the government. It’s used to determine eligibility of individuals for federal and state aid in the form of grants, loans, and work-study programs.
Organizers advise students who attend to bring copies of their or their parents’ tax documents such as income tax filings and W2 forms.
People who attend become eligible for a drawing to award $250 toward text books.
